NCAA Week 2

Free Picks

Thursday Night

UAB (+3) over Southern Miss.  2 Units.  UAB had a close win at Baylor over the weekend while Southern Miss was demolished in California by the surprising Cal Bears.  Southern Miss will have a tough time recovering from their cross country demolition on a short week to play on the road again.  This is a huge game for the UAB program since they are on national TV for the first time against an opponent they can beat.  Southern Miss has two ineffective QB's last season and the situation has not improved.  This will be a good night to be a Blazer fan.

Friday Night

Oregon St. (-8.5) over Fresno St.  2 Units.  Oregon State comes into this season with high expectations and a familiar face at Head Coach.  HC Riley started the Beavers on the path to redemption several years and jumped ship before he was able to enjoy the benefits.  Fresno St. is off to a tough start with their starting QB injured and their tough schedule.  Fresno State's lack of a running game will hurt them again this week.

Saturday

Syracuse (-2) over North Carolina.  2 Units.  Syracuse is coming off their worst season in the Paul Pasqualoni era and look like they should be improved on both sides of the ball this season.  UNC looked terrible against a revenge motivated Florida State last week and will be in the second week of a two week home hangover.  North Carolina's formerly dominant defense is not dominant and their offense is inconsistent.

Oklahoma (-7.5) over Alabama. 2 Units.  Well while this should be a great game, Oklahoma's defense will stem the Crimson Tide.  Alabama looked merely mediocre in an opener over South Florida while the Sooners dominated an overmatched North Texas.  In the end, the Sooners will dominate again.

Member Picks

Notre Dame (-6) over Washington State.  3 Units.  Notre Dame comes off a great first season under HC Willingham and should be just as good if not at least better offensively this season.  Washington State is playing under a new HC and have several new players in key positions.  The pressure of playing at Notre Dame will be a good learning experience for the Cougars as they get ready for the Pac Ten season, but they will not keep up with the Irish.

Colorado (-3) over UCLA. 2 Units.  The Buffalos finally got over the hump and beat CSU and should carry that momentum back home against a UCLA team that has not played yet.  UCLA will have some jitters opening up in hostile territory and look for some offensive mistakes from all the rust.

Washington (-24) over Indiana.  2 Units.  Washington did not look good against Ohio State failing to contain the QB, passing or running.  Indiana looked worse getting ripped by U Conn.   Washington's passing game will light up an overmatched Indiana.

Missouri (-14) over Ball State.  2 Units.  Missouri pulled out a nice win of neighboring rival Illinois last week.  They will not have any problem with Ball State who are playing under a new regime.  Missouri will not look past this week since they play a 1-AA opp next week.

Tennessee (-19) over Marshall.  2 Units.  The Tennessee defense will have a little bit of a bigger challenge this week, but they will be well up to the task.  Marshall is still a good offensive team, but still lacks any defensive strength to play against the big boys.

West Virginia (-9.5) over East Carolina.  3 Units.  ECU was pathetic on both sides of ball of ball against Cincinnati.  West Virginia lost control of a game they could have one in the fourth quarter against  a good Wisconsin team.  West Virginia will be out for blood this week to get back on track.  While ECU is looked so lost, we hope they even find their way back for this short recovery week.

Added Game:  U Conn (-16) over Army.  2 Units.  Army has been aweful the last few years and U Conn is a program on the rise.  Look for another strong performance for U Conn.
