Pre Season Total 6-8-2 -4.6 Units Week Four of Pre-Season 2-1 +1.8 Units Wednesday August 28th San Diego (-3.5) over San Francisco for 2 Units. The Chargers took great care of us last week in beating the crap out of the Rams. We look for a similar performance this week against the 49ers who also just want to stay healthy for the regular season. The Charger's will be benefit again from a determined Flutie who wants to show he is still ready to step in and run the show. In addition, Garcia will not play at all and the second half will be a show for the defenses with the teams going with major scrubs at QB. Thursday August 29th Minnesota (+5) over Pittsburgh for 2 Units. The Steelers got a win last week and that should satisfy HC Cowher who will play the starters a bit more this week. The Vikings are starting to move the ball again and will have their starters playing most of the game. Friday August 30th Carolina (+2) over Cleveland. 2 Units. Carolina has been terrible in the Pre-Season and should get a break tonight with Tim Couch not playing tonight for the Browns. Carolina will be working to try to get something in sync before the season begins, while Cleveland wants to avoid injuries and protect their status as a team on the rise.
Week Three of Pre-Season 2-1-1 +2.8 Units Saturday August 24th Pittsburgh (-3.5) over Detroit for 2 Units. Detroit should be called an expansion team because they suck. Pittsburgh has not looked great in the pre-season, but they will play the starters more this week to get their motors running. Kansas City (+3) over Seattle for 2 Units. Vermiel may have done it again because the Chiefs look much better this season. Seattle has not gotten off to a good start and has no one with any talent at the QB position. Kansas City, with its better depth, should ground the Seahawks weakened attack. College Friday August 23rd Carolina (+6) over New England for 2 Units. After a strong start to last week's game and a 13-0 lead, Carolina rolled over and lost. HC Fox wants to get a win in preseason so look for the starters to play deep into the game. Patriots Brady played the whole first half and looked rusty. We think that he may struggle this season with his sudden fame, now that he has had time to think about it and teams have scouted him better. Thursday August 22nd San Diego (+6.5) over St. Louis for 3 Units. San Diego has two decent QB's who will play most of the game. Both want to prove they are capable in leading offense and have been successful. The Rams have a short week after a sloppy loss to Chicago. The Rams don't want to expose Warner or Faulk to injury so they will only make short appearances. Again, the Rams have nothing to play for in this game, look for San Diego to cover easily. Early College Action Week Two of Pre- Season 2-2 -.4 Units August 15th 1-0 +2.0 Units New Orleans (+2.5) over Miami for 2 Units. Both teams had uninspired starts to the season, but New Orleans will want to pound the Dolphins for taking Ricky Williams. Besides losing to an expansion team has to be strong motivation to get your collective asses in gear. In addition Miami will be very tired playing in an unheard of 2nd Game in 72 hours. Saints will not need to be at their best to get the job done. August 16th 1-0 +2.0 Units Chicago (+6) over St. Louis for 2 Units. Last week, the Bear played more like Cubs. Now that they are on the road this week away from their temporary home, they should have a more inspired performance against a team they will face during the season and on the road to the Super Bowl. On the technical side of things, the Bears have everything going for them this week. August 17th 0-1 -2.2 Units NY Giants (+3) over Atlanta for 2 Units. The Giants are very hot to start the pre-season moving the ball through the air and on the ground with ease. Atlanta will not be a team to halt the progress of the revived Giants. August 18th 0-1 -2.2 Units Washington (-3) over Pittsburgh for 2 Units. The Redskins has also started out the season with a bang under new HC Spurrier. Washington will continue to throw downfield and press the oppositions defense in these pre-season games. Spurrier wants to build a winning attitude that has been missing in Washington the last few years, and he making long strides towards this goal in the pre-season. Pre Season Week One And Early Games 0-4-1 -8.8 Units August 10th 0-1-1 -2.2 Units Giants (-3) over Patriots for 2 Units. The Giants looked good against the Texans (who also looked pretty decent for an expansion team). The Patriots are everyone's target this season and they should be playing a lot of scrubs since most positions have last year's starters firmly in place. Redskins (-8) over Panthers for 2 Units. The Redskins look like they are going to have some fun this pre-season while Spurrier establishes himself and gets the team to buy into the Fun and Gun offense. The Panthers have a new head coach too, but a dismal team. August 9th 0-1 -2.2 Units Lions v. Ravens over 32 for 2 Units. Both teams have serious competition at Quarterback, so there should be balls flying everywhere. Neither team has much of a running game either. August 8th 0-1 -2.2 Units Jets v. Steelers Over 31 for 2 Units. This game should feature some decent scoring in good weather. The Jets have some fleet young receivers who will gets lots of playing time against a good Steelers team that just wants to avoid injuries and get to the regular season. The defenses should be pretty soft by the end of the game for both of these teams. Hall of Fame Game August 5th 0-1 for -2.2 Units Texans (+3) for 2 Units. Dogs kicked ass last year in the pre-season covering at over a 60% clip. The Texas have something to show, and have capable coaches to run the show. This game has no meaning for the Giants and they should play at their usual under whelming pace. Let's see the expansion team start off well. |
