College Football Week One   2 - 2 -.4 Units

August 24th - 1-1 -.2 Units

Texas Tech (+6) over Ohio State for 2 Units.  Many think that Ohio State will be back at the top of the Big Ten, but they look more destined to another season of mediocrity.  Ohio State have a new QB and will be missing a starting WR and FB who are lost to suspensions for the game and maybe beyond.  Texas Tech will need to find a replacement for their leading rusher/ last resort  wide receiver Ricky Williams, but they will return a strong QB and all of their other passing targets.  The defense returns 9 starters and should be improved from last season.  Ohio State failed to cover all three out of conference games last season with possibly a better team.

Iowa State (+22.5) over Florida State for 2 Units.  This is a huge game for Iowa State as evidenced by their fans purchasing over 40,000 tickets for this somewhat neutral site game at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City.  Iowa State just come off back to back bowl seasons for the first time in 22 years, and they have a program that looks like it can be bowl team again.  Florida State is coming off one of their worst seasons in the Bowden era and is stocked for a strong rally but two of their top three wide outs are dinged up.  In addition, the Seminoles are 1-5 ATS in game one and 0-6 as big (>14) non-conference favorites.  Iowa St has covered 8 of their last 9 lined non-conference games.

August 23rd - 0 - 1 -2.2 Units

Wisconsin (-8) over Fresno St. for 2 Units.  Revenge!! Wisconsin is back on the rise this season after discovering a new talent at TB and a second QB who can throw down field.  Fresno St. has lost their star and some strength on defense which should have them lagging behind a bit to start the season.  Fresno State's projected started at TB going into the season in out for the game too.

Thursday August 22nd - 1-0 +2.0

Colorado State (+2.5) over Virginia for 2 Units.   CSU is 8-1-1 over the past 5 years as a road dog and has started off the season strong covering the first game in 5 of the last 6 years.  Both teams are young with several underclassmen as starters, but the Rams finished on a nice high note last year winning their last 3 games include a bowl blow out against an overmatched North Texas.  This Virginia team will continue to gel under quality coach Groh, but Colorado State's intensity and experience under the lights will carry them to a straight up win.
