NCAA Week 9

Thursday

Free

Georgia Tech/Maryland Under 51.  1 Units.  These two teams have been living on defense all year and Georgia Tech would like to get Maryland back for their come from behind win last season at Tech.

Friday

Paid

Boise St. (-7) over Fresno St.  3 Units.  Fresno St. is not the team they were last season, and even though they do have some revenge in mind against the Tater Tots (oops, Boise State Broncos), the Bulldogs will get stomped.  Boise State has a tremendous offense and a great home field advantage.

Saturday

Paid

West Virginia (-7.5) over Syracuse.  3 Units.  Syracuse is miserable and they have not beaten a Division 1-A team this season.  Their once strong defense is allowing close 500 yards per game.  West Virginia should take out some past frustration the Orangemen since they have lost 6 of the last 7 years to them.  Syracuse is a terrible road dog and even worse coming off a SU favorite loss.

Iowa (-12.5) at Indiana.  2 Units.  Indiana "jumped the shark" last week with their win over Wisconsin and should not have guts for two in a row.  Anyway, Iowa is a much better team they Wisconsin and they need a win this week to secure their upper division finish in the Big Ten before they work on the title and a trip to the Rose Bowl.  Indiana's dreadful run D will not slow the Hawkeye down.

Northwestern (+25.5) at Penn State. 2 Units.  Northwestern's offense has played too well to not put  at least 20 points on the board this week.

Northwestern/Penn State OVER 57.5. 2 Units.  Both teams have loved putting up points this season and should again get big numbers.

Iowa State (+9) over Oklahoma.  2 Units.  Oklahoma stepped up to the plate and beat Texas last week, but Iowa State maybe a tougher test with a much more dynamic weapon at QB, like Missouri who gave Oklahoma fits.  Cinderella chance for a trip to ball is not over yet for Iowa State.

Louisville (-11.5) over TCU.  2 Units.  Louisville has regained focus and has been playing well.    This is a spot for revenge after Louisville seemed to take the game off mentally when they had already been scheduled for the Liberty Bowl.  Louisville should be able to take care of business.

Mississippi (+11) over Alabama.  2 Units.  Although we are a little wary of Mississippi affinity for home cooking, they are getting too many points this weekend against the limping Crimson Tide.  Mississippi's defense has solidified since the loss to Texas Tech and has give Eli Manning strong support, but Eli is due for a breakout game since his season numbers have not been incredible.

Kentucky (+10) at Arkansas. 2 Units.  The Hefty Lefty has done well to help his team and his defense this season by making fewer mistakes.  Although Arkansas has killed us a couple times of the last few years with their wins over Auburn, but they may be looking ahead to their SEC West battle against Ole Miss next week.

Air Force (-3) over Notre Dame.  2 Units.  This is the biggest game for both schools in quite a while and for that reason we like home standing Falcons because they are accustomed to the altitude and playing at night.  Notre Dame's defense will be sucking air in the 4th quarter after chasing the Air Force ground attack all night.

Temple (-1) at U Conn.  3 Units.  No matter what happens in football Temple will hate UConn with a passion for eternity since they are team that is causing them to be thrown out of the Big East.  Now that Temple has some momentum with a win over a weak Syracuse last week, they will demolish the Huskies.

Kent St. (-11.5) over Ohio U.  2 Units.  Kent State has had a week off to get ready for an Ohio U team that can't play on the road, and Kent would like to erase their recent loosing trend against Ohio U.  No one ever thought they would say that Kent State plays decent football.

Free

Minnesota (+4) over Michigan St. 2 Units.  Mason has his team playing great ball and Michigan State does nothing special on defense against the run.  As usual, the Spartans should be under whelming in their performance and this will be the game where Minnesota proves they can win on the road.

Arizona (+2) over Stanford.  2 Units.   Arizona has found a quarterback and that should be enough to take down Stanford this week.  HC Buddy Tevens has not been able to choose a QB to run the once potent, now almost impotent offense of the Cardinal.  Arizona will finally turn the corner this season and approach bowl eligibility.

Hawaii (-30.5) over Tulsa.  1 Unit.  This is a big line, but Tulsa is a team that gives up big numbers of points and traveling to the Hawaii this week will be no different.  The Rainbows will shoot for 70 points this week.
