NFL Week 1 Paid Picks Eagles (+1) at Titans. 3 Units. Two great defenses battle here this week, but the Eagles look even better on paper then last year. Tennessee will benefit from a healthy Eddie George, but he will be stuffed up the middle by newly acquired Levon Kirkland. The additions of Antonio Freeman and Dorsey Levens have shored up any weakness in depth on the offense which will make the Eagles a team to beat this season. The Eagles have been a great dog going 11-3 ATS over the last 3 years and 10-2 ATS on grass. Ravens/Panthers Under 33.5. 1 Unit. These two teams suck on offense. Dolphins (-8) over Lions. 3 Units. The Dolphins look to be a force on the ground this season as well as on defense since they added Ricky Williams. Detroit has nowhere to go and will not see improvement until they establish a quarterback and running back to build the team around. The Fins have been 14-7 ATS as a favorite and 12-5 ATS at home. Cowboys (-8) at Texans. 2 Units. This is a huge game in the this part of Texas and look for both teams to be very excited for the game. With David Carr dinged up already, Dallas will have a field day with the Texans unable to score enough to keep up with the Cowboys. Free Picks Sunday September 8th Colts (-3.5) at Jaguars. 2 Units. The Colts should be better this season under more stable coach who understands defense. In addition the Colts picked up the other Ricky Williams this week who will help this team once he learns the offense since he is an excellent receive out of the backfield. The Jags will not be able to contain the passing of QB Manning and are team that has fallen apart due to poor salary cap management. Panthers (+2) over Ravens. 2 Units. Not that preseason means much, but Panthers were happy to finish on a winning note while the Ravens were shut down by the Giants. The inexperience at QB will hurt the Ravens in this opening week of play. Chargers (+2.5) at Cincinnati. 2 Units. Every time Cincinnati looks like they might get their act together, they end up with some loser at quarterback. The Chargers played solid in preseason without any action from their leading runner. Since both teams will be working the ground game, we have to go with the better defense in the Chargers. Monday September 9th New England (+3) over Pittsburgh. 2 Units. This will be a grinding game pitting the Bus against against the New England defense. Three points is too much to be giving the defending Super Bowl Champs at home opening their new stadium.
