Thursday Night Game of the Year!!! Maryland (+9.5) over Georgia Tech. 6 Stars. This is a classic revenge game. Maryland has started off great under their new HC, who was the former OC at Georgia Tech. Maryland is 5-0 ATS and is +10 in turnovers. This will be a close game decided by less then a touchdown. Here is a tidbit that we found over the last 5 years from Week 7 on in College Football a road team that has given up 5 or less points in the 1st Quarter of their last 3 games is 18-1 ATS (2-0 LY). Maryland is also 5-1ATS as a conference dog and 6-1 ATS before Duke. Lastly they are 16-3 ATS off BB Su wins and scoring over 35 points in the last game. Tech is a good team, but they don't have the spark that they played with last season. Georgia Tech is 2-2 ATS only covering against Duke and Navy, two of the country's worst teams. Saturday Play each game for the units designated and then play 3 - 2 Team Parlays for 1 Unit Each. If you go 3 - 0 you will win over 25 units. If you go 2 - 1 ATS you will clear from almost 5 to 9 units. If we don't go at least 2 -1, you will get next week free. WAC Game of the Year: Rice (-7) over Navy - 7 Stars. Rice has proved us wrong twice this season and they are not going to bite us again. They are for real. The flex bone is finally working for first time in many years. Navy has a porous run defense that will succumb to the Rice ground game that averages almost 270 yards a game. Navy blew their wad last week covering against a rival service academy but this week they face a team with a strong run defense and will hit a brick wall. MAC Game of the Year: Ohio U (-7.5) over Central Michigan - 7 Stars. Ohio U is angry and frustrated and will be hungry when they face their first weak team of the season. Ohio U is the best 0-4 team in the country and they will show their true colors this weekend. CMU has only beaten Buffalo where they did not cover and a Div 1-AA team. Two interesting stats to ponder: Winless Game 5 favorites are 19-7-1 ATS and CMU is 0-6 ATS against a team off a straight up loss. Oregon (-14) over California - 5 Stars. Oregon has gotten their act together in two straight road wins and covers. Cal has had two weeks to stew over their 0 - 4 straight up record. Cal fell short in their last game against Washington where they finally covered but have not improved their Swiss cheese pass defense and should have problems against the Pac 10's best quarterback. In addition Oregon is +11 in the turnover department and Cal is -13. After 4 or 5 games for each team those numbers are telling.
Free Picks for Saturday Miami (-7) over Florida State - 2 Stars. Miami should be motivated that the BCS polls would only place them in 13th. This is the game for Miami to show they are for real to the computers since the polls seem to agree that Miami is a great team. The favorite in the game has covered 8 of 12. The presence of a strong running game for one team, Miami, will be the difference maker. Iowa St (-2.5) over Missouri - 3 Stars. Iowa State is coming off a tough loss to Nebraska and are looking to regain their positive momentum. Missouri is still feeling things out, but is not settled in under their new coach. Iowa State's balanced offense will be the deal breaker and allow them to win by 10 or more. The visiting team is 15 -7 ATS in the series and Iowa State is 9 - 4 ATS on the road. UNLV (-4) over San Diego State - 2 Stars. UNLV finally got a win last weekend and hopefully the tension will be broken. UNLV is 9 - 3 ATS of an SU win. San Diego State has not scored more then 21 points in a Division I game and that will be their failure against a UNLV team that is starting to live up to its potential. Georgia (-7.5) over Vanderbilt - 3 Stars. Georgia seemed happy to go out on the road last weekend getting their first cover in their last second upset win over Tennessee. Vanderbilt's two conference home covers have come against teams off losses and lulled into complacency by the thought of an easy win. Georgia has the motivation and impetus that their fellow conference counterparts were missing. The visiting team has covered the last nine in this series. Memphis (-7) over Houston - 3 Stars. Memphis upset Southern Miss last weekend to make them 3-2 SU on the season and now they have a bowl opportunity if they win the rest of the games that they are supposed to win starting with this one. Houston is 0-4 SU and 1-3 ATS and their QB is injured which has driven the line up to 7 from 4.5. Memphis' coach Tommy West was winner in the past and is already showing that he can build a winner here. Houston has failed to cover 8 of 12 at home. |
